A mother-daughter owned art gallery showcasing NM artists

Since 2016, Abiquiú Dome has served as a showroom for owner Connie B. Burkhart’s striking metalwork designs. Each October, the Dome has traditionally welcomed visitors during the annual Abiquiú Studio Tour, sparking a dream of more regular openings. In the spring of 2022, that vision finally became a reality. Joining Connie in this venture is her daughter, Becca Fisher, who, as the Curator and Managing Partner, oversees business operations. Becca moved to Abiquiú in early 2022 to bring this gallery to life, though her connection to the area runs deep, with cherished memories of summers spent at nearby Ghost Ranch. Recently, Becca has also embarked on her own artistic journey, creating small acrylic paintings under the name High Desert Art & Flora, capturing the vivid beauty of the high desert landscape.

Beyond Connie & Becca’s artistry, Abiquiú Dome showcases an eclectic mix of local and regional artists in an earthy, one-of-a-kind adobe gallery space & adjacent building. Though modest in size, this curiously shaped, Byzantine-inspired structure captures the spirit of creativity and has long intrigued passersby. It’s a site wrapped in mystery and roadside charm, and now, with the doors open seasonally, it invites visitors to step inside and experience its magic.

In 2023, they expanded their space with a new gallery shop adjacent to the Dome, offering even more room to celebrate talented artists and artisans. Stop by to explore the charm, history, and inspiration of this unique Abiquiú destination!
