The Dome is an adobe structure built to emulate 6th century Byzantine architectural techniques. It was inspired by the famous domed structure, Hagia Sophia, in Istanbul, Turkey, which was originally a Byzantine basilica and is now a mosque. Although it is not a formal place of worship, it holds a sacred energy of other worlds & cultures. Abiquiú Dome was originally owned and used as a studio for our friend & local artist, Lori Faye Bock. It is now owned by metal artist, Connie B. Burkhart, and is a seasonal art gallery & shop, featuring the work of many artists and artisans.

Yes! We are seasonally open Fri-Sun, May - October from 11am-4pm and by advance appointment during the week (May-Oct). If you are passing by and there are tall yellow flags up, we are open! Check out our social media @abiquiudome or our 'Contact' & 'Events' page for more details.

Generally, yes. She has done many commissions for people and businesses all over the US. She is happy to discuss design inquiries, however, there are many variables a buyer should consider like if shipping would be necessary, which can be VERY costly for larger pieces. Connie's studio is outdoors so she is limited to working seasonally and depending on her work load, may have to schedule your request for the following season. For our Featured Supporting Artists, we will ship select items which will be promoted on our social media - mainly Instagram. Connie's smaller metal art pieces can be shipped but all others depend on the piece and are considered on a case by case basis. We are rolling out an online store for Connie's metal designs and Dome merchandise so keep a look out for that! Yes.

Yes, but only when the dome is open. Ample parking is located through our gate - just off Hwy 84. Our lot can accommodate campers, vans, smaller RVs and trailers. To spot our entrance, the driveway and gate are located directly in line with the front of the dome next to the big juniper tree. We have signs a 1/4 mile down the highway in each direction and signs and flags at our entrance. Just follow the yellow!
