LODGING AND PRIVATE STUDIO SPACE INCLUDED

You'll receive on-site lodging in a fully-equipped Mallard Heartland travel trailer and the use of our gallery shop, adjacent to the Dome, as a dedicated working studio & creative space! Single & double occupancy packages are available!

Your lodging and studio space are completely private during the Dome’s off-season months.

COMPLIMENTARY ARTIST MENTORSHIP MEETING

During your residency, you will have a complimentary mentorship meeting with Connie and Becca to discuss your professional journey as an artist and what is expected for becoming a featured artist at the Dome for our 2024 season.

Both Connie and Becca have experience in the hospitality industry on many levels, including hosting successful Airbnbs in Abiquiú. You'll have confidence knowing you'll have comfortable and well-appointed accommodations during your stay.

Private Studio Space at Abiquiú Dome's Gallery Shop

Your private studio space will be located steps from your living quarters and the Dome in our 12'x24' 288ft² gallery shop. Everything will be cleared out, except for existing furniture, which will be available for use. Removal or rearranging of some furniture is negotiable. You'll have 24/7 studio access and private, gated parking. Starlink WiFi & lounge area with seating. Heat sources are from an electric fireplace and space heater. The studio space is insulated so these supplemental heat sources should keep the place nicely heated, if they are monitored. A/C & ceiling fan (most likely not needed during these months). Natural light from five windows on all sides with privacy curtains providing fresh air when needed. Stunning views of Red Wash Canyon, the edge of the Colorado Plateau, Jemez Mountains, and the tip of Cerro Pedernal.

Note: Artists will need to pack in all necessary supplies to work in a raw studio space. It will be the artist's responsibility to use protective measures on floors, furniture, and walls from potentially damaging materials (such as paint, stains, spills, fumes, etc). Interior pictures coming soon and by request.

NO PETS ALLOWED.

*Due to the primitive and sacred nature of the Dome, it will not be available for use as a studio. Arranged times to visit the inside of the Dome will be accommodated.

Lodging Accommodation

You'll be provided with a fully-equipped 20' Mallard

Heartland travel trailer with heat & a/c that will be

situated on the Dome property, steps from the studio

space. The heater is more than enough heat you'd want, even in the winter. You can trust in the colder months, that you'll be nice and cozy. Should a rare power outage occur, the trailer is equipped with solar and can run some main functions. Interior pictures coming soon and by request. NO PETS ALLOWED.

Note: Abiquiú Dome owner/artist, Connie B. Burkhart, lives in the house behind the Dome, on adjacent property. While the properties are separate, her house is visible from where you'll be staying. Connie respects and appreciates privacy, and she will be your point of contact for any questions and/or emergencies.

$1,500 plus tax & $150 registration fee plus tax.

Double occupancy rate & details:

1 additional artist or non-artist guest, (such as an friend, loved one, or partner/spouse), may be added for an additional $400 plus tax. The queen bed & bottom twin bunk will be available for sleeping arrangements. If the second guest is participating as an artist-in-residence, they must also apply through the application below to be approved. Copy of ID(s) required at booking.

PAYMENT & CANCELATION POLICY

Payment Schedule

The registration fee and a 50% deposit are required at booking and the other 50% payment is due 1 week prior to residency. Payment will be accepted via invoice with an attached residency contract that will need to be signed by artists (and their guest, if applicable).

For residency packages:

4-Week Residency Deposit Required:

Single occupancy: $900 + tax

Double occupancy: $1,100 + tax

3-Week Residency Deposit Required:

Single occupancy: $750 + tax

Double occupancy: $900 + tax

2-Week Residency Deposit Required:

Single occupancy: $600 + tax

Double occupancy: $700 + tax

*Total deposit due at residency contract signing. Rest due 1 week prior to residency*

Cancelation & Refund Policy

Due to the limited spots available and length of residency, we will enforce a strict cancelation policy. The $150 registration fee, 50% deposit, & tax are non-refundable. This applies to advance notice and last minute cancelations, starting residency late, ending residency early, or any other reason(s) for cancelation. No refunds will be given for nights missed due to delayed travels (canceled flights, weather, etc). Check-in day may be flexible after the start date but check-out day will be firm, so we have time to thoroughly prepare the space for the next artist. If you have to cancel, we can discuss options to transfer your residency to another artist, if they have gone through the application process.
